Stayin Alive è un brano rilasciato come secondo singolo dalla colonna sonora del film Saturday Night Fever (1977), album scritto ed inciso dai Bee Gees. Il pezzo, per ragioni legali, venne registrato in Francia: il caso volle che non furono trovati batteristi per incidere il disco (proprio perchè intorno ad Hérouville, dove erano locati gli studi, nessuno suonava la batteria) ed i produttori ricorsero ad una drum-machine; insoddisfatti di questo strumenti optarono per ridurne al minimo le competenze e, registrate due sole battute, queste vennero ripetute per l’intera canzone.
Curiosamente tra i crediti di Styin Alive figurava un certo batterista Bernard Lupe: ci vollero anni perchè qualcuno si accorgesse che costui non esisteva.
E’ uno dei due brani, oltre a “How Deep Is Your Love”, che figurano nella classifica stilata dal magazine Rolling Stone nel 2004 sulle 500 migliori canzoni di tutti i tempi.
