The Riddle è un brano scritto e interpretato da Nik Kershaw, contenuto nell'album omonimo pubblicato nel 1984. Seconda fatica discografica per l'artista di Bristol, viene realizzata dopo il suo primo grande successo internazionale Wouldn't It Be Good che aveva scalato le classifiche persino in Italia. La canzone, che dà il titolo all'album, è il primo singolo estratto da esso: traccia d'apertura del lato B, ha un testo criptico e di difficile interpretazione... frutto di un processo di scrittura che serviva solo come "voce guida".
