Vertigo è una canzone scritta e incisa dagli U2 nel 2004 e contenuta nell'album How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb. Brano di enorme successo, vinse il Grammy Award nel 2005. Il testo inizia con alcuni numeri in spagnolo (uno, due, tre, quattordici) che sembrano riferirsi a precisi libri e capitoli dell'Antico Testamento; infatti come Gesù nel deserto è tentato dal diavolo, così noi siamo continuamente tentati da una miriade di futili e allettanti promesse fini a se stesse. Secondo la rivista specializzata Rolling Stone si piazza al 64° posto nella classifica delle 100 migliori canzoni del primo decennio degli anni 2000.
