Sign of the Cross è un brano composto e inciso dagli Iron Maiden, contenuto nell'album The X Factor pubblicato nel 1995. Decimo lavoro in studio per la rockband britannica, prende spunto nel titolo dal senso di incertezza che regnava all'interno della formazione, dovuto specialmente al cambio di frontman tra Bruce Dickinson e Blaze Bayley. La canzone è la traccia d'apertura del disco e porta la firma del bassista Steve Harris; tratto dal celebre romanzo "Il nome della rosa", racconta la scena della confessione da parte dei frati.
