Black Velvet Band è un brano inciso dai Dubliners, contenuto nell'album A Drop of the Hard Stuff pubblicato nel 1967. Quarto disco di inediti per la band irlandese, è composto da pezzi inediti ed alcuni riadattamenti di brani del repertorio tradizionale celtico-irlandese. La canzone fa parte di questo sconfinato repertorio e racconta la storia dei deportati irlandesi nelle carceri australiane; il protagonista è un apprendista che, inconsapevolmente, diventa complice di un furto e finisce, insieme ad una donna, in un carcere in Tasmania!
