The Memory Remains è un brano composto e inciso dai Metallica, contenuto nell'album ReLoad pubblicato nel 1997. Settimo disco di inediti per la band californiana, è il sequel di Load dell'anno precedente: fin il progetto iniziale, infatti, si prevedeva un doppio album che contenesse le tracce dell'uno e dell'altro. La canzone, il primo singolo estratto, porta la firma di James Hetfield e quella Lars Ulrich; parla di una rockstar che non riesce ad accettare il suo inevitabile declino.
